Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by artist Steve Ditko and writer Stan Lee, this character first appeared in Strange Tales 110 (cover July 1963). Doctor Strange plays the role of the Sorcerer Supreme, Earth’s primary guardian from magical and mystical threats. Inspired by the tales of a warlock and a chandu magician, Strange was created for the Silver Age of Comic Books to introduce a different kind of character and occult theme to Marvel Comics.
